Eucalyptus grandis

This recently split Eucalyptus grandis (rose gum) from inner-city Balmain is destined for our slow-combustion stove. Unusually heavy rain this Sydney summer has hampered its drying but provided me with some glorious imagery. I’m not sure why this beautiful tree was felled, but when I see its intense colours I feel witness not only to the wonder of nature but to our dogged destruction of it.
